Back from a blogging break

The reason for the blogging break is that I have been subbing practically everyday, I love getting back into the grind of teaching (but I miss having my own classroom). In fact I find myself pouring over teacher blogs in hopes of gaining ideas for any future classes I may teach. Let me just say I have found a BUNCH of great ideas!

Today was the beginning of Read Across America week at Nathan's school.
Today was "hat's off to reading" (AKA wear a crazy hat), here was Nathan's choice! ;)

Tomorrow Nathan is supposed to wear crazy socks, which I need to go make right about now....

Our First Giveaway!!!

Y'all I'm so excited that we are hosting our first giveaway!
And now for the prize...
If you win the drawing you will win this wonderful book by Jerramy Fine. I am so excited that Jerramy is giving us a copy for one of our lucky winners!

A little bit about Jerramy (from her website)-
Born in 1977, Jerramy Sage Fine grew up in Western Colorado along with her little brother Ezra. Although she was raised by crazy hippy parents, she still maintains there was a dreadful hospital mix-up and she was switched at birth with the baby daughter of English aristocrats. Jerramy attended the University of Rochester where she spent her semester abroad working in the House of Commons, and later completed her master’s at the London School of Economics. She now lives in London with her English boyfriend. He’s not royal, but she forgives him.

About the book-

(From Publishers Weekly)Many little girls dream of becoming a princess and finding their Prince Charming. Fine was no different and, at the age of six, traced the Windsor family tree to Peter Phillips, an English royal of her same age, and announced she would marry him. Unlike other girls, however, this dream did not fade away with adolescence. With a story line akin to a chick lit novel, her memoir follows her single-minded path to become suitable wife material for a prince, to move to England and to be swept away in a royal romance. Born to hippie parents in rural Colorado, Fine comes of age feeling out of place and escapes to the East Coast for college and then to graduate school in London. There she ingratiates herself into English social circles, eventually rubbing shoulders with Princess Anne, the Duchess of York and others. Amid her lessons in British society and the universal woes of dating, she also gains the important knowledge that the strength of one's conviction can be the strongest predictor of one's fate. Provided the reader doesn't grimace to see her determination, intelligence and grace used to pursue a man she's never met, Fine's is a charming and humorous story.

Being a fan of the British monarchy I knew I had to get this book as soon as I saw it! I also learned that Jerramy and I had something else in common, (besides our love for British monarchy) she is a Delta Gamma too!

Valentine's Day 2011

We celebrated Valentine's Day early at our house.  Instead of going out we decided to have a nice quiet night at home with just the three of us.  We made an amazing meal, consisting of cheese fondue (from Nathan's Paula Deen Cookbook for the Lunch-box Set), grilled ribeye steaks with onion-blue cheese sauce, Tripp's amazing mashed potatoes, and chocolate strawberries for dessert.
It was so nice to have a special dinner at home with my two fellas!

(I had never made chocolate covered strawberries in my life, the chocolate was a little too thick, but they were still yummy!)

Starting tomorrow I will be hosting my first giveaway! I am sooo excited! Be sure to check back tomorrow!
Any of y'all watching the Grammy's?  What did you think of Lady Gaga's performance?

Don't forget to check back with us tomorrow!

Show Us Your Life: Beauty Tips

Today on Kelly's Korner's the Show Us Your Life topic is beauty tips.  I've never linked up with SUYL, so I'm pretty excited.
First off let me say that I wouldn't really call these "beauty tips", more like get presentable so I don't embarrass Nathan or Tripp! ;) Second, I use a lot of drugstore products, there are some expensive brands that I LOVE, but it really isn't in our budget right now.

1.) Hair- I have to wash my hair everyday, if I don't I just feel gross.  I like to switch up my shampoo, whenever I can. So of the brands I use are...
Aussie Aussome Volume Shampoo and Conditioner
Herbal Essence Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner
Aveda Smooth Infusion-Love this product. I can have some frizzy hair at times, but this stuff is magic!
I recently invested in some Velcro rollers. I'm in love, these things smooth and give me volume!

2.) Body- My skin gets really dry if I don't take care of it. In the shower I use this...
Boot's Brazil Nut and Vanilla Body Scrub. Not only does this product smell amazing, but it really makes my skin smooth.

I use this when I get out of the shower and before I go to bed...

4.) Face- I use moisturizer every day and night. As far as makeup goes I don't have any specific products I have to have.  I use foundation, blush, mascara (anything that will boost my lashes, considering mine are so short), I also curl my lashes.

So there you have nothing fancy, but it works for me! Can't wait to read about other blogger's favorite products. :)

What I'm Loving

Here's what I'm loving on this snowy Tuesday...
Spending a snow day with this little big guy.  We have watched his Scholastic Storybook Classics all day and played with Transformers.
I'm also loving reading this to Nathan.  It is so great to see him experience one of my favorite book series.
I don't know about y'all but this cold weather really does a number on my skin and a lot of moisturizers make my skin really oily. But Garnier Moisture Rescue is inexpensive magic! ;)

And of course,  I'm loving these guys! :)

Happy Tuesday!

Sweet Birdie's Nest Giveaway on Sweet Southern Prep

First off let me say that I LOVE paper products, especially children's paper products.  I'm not talking about the kind you can get from the party section at Wal-Mart with cartoon characters, though I have been guilty of using them (the things we do for our kids). ;)  Needless to say I am very excited about this giveaway that is happening over on Sweet Southern Prep's blog.
Sweet Birdie's Nest has teamed up with SSP to host an amazing giveaway of  25 5x7 or 4x6 invitations or 25 flat correspondence cards.  I have already picked out my favorite for Mr. Nathan! :)

Giveaway

Then I Got to Thinking is hosting a giveaway of all her favorite things! Let me tell you she has some pretty cute favorites!
Y'all should head over to her blog and enter!

I'm back

Well I know one of my "goals" for the new year was to blog more often, yet this past week I was a no show.  I have been getting more sub jobs (which I hope will turn into a real teaching job) and I have had some kind of nasty coughing croup.  But enough of that!
Now it's time for menu Monday Tuesday.
Monday-Steak, Potatoes, Green Beans
Tuesday-Spaghetti
Wednesday-Dinner at church
Thursday-Pork Chops, rice, and salad
Friday-Homemade Pizza

Not much has been happening around the Watts' household.  The house needs a cleaning fairy to visit, I hope that I can get over this crud soon, so I can get things back into shape.
In other news Valentines Day is just around the corner and I've been trying to figure out what I want to do for Tripp and Nathan.  I think that I may make a Japanese style dinner for them.  I've been looking online for some yummy recipes.  If any of you all have any recipes or experience cooking Japanese let me know! :)
